rbistolfi has packaged an updated version of libpng for VL 5.9 and VL 5.9.1  This is a security patch which closes known memory corruption vulnerabilities in the version included in VL 5.9 and VL 5.9.1.  Security conscious users may want to upgrade immediately.  This package will be moved to patches as soon as we have adequate user testing.

Caitlyn,

I thought I would try it but in clicking on the link, I don't find the tgz file.  I will just wait til it makes it to the repositories.

The link points to the location of the source-files. The package is allready in the repository and can be installed via Gslapt or slapt-get (if you have the testing repository enabled, otherwise you'd have to wait until the package is moved to either patches or extra)

Hi Sledgehammer,

One of the things that has changed in Vector is that gslapt is
part of the package system. It is how package dependancies are
being met.

This is something that everyone should be aware of.

Caitlyn has made a sticky to explain why.

Bigpaws, you're right,  but package not being there is another kind of problem though.

For example,, having the sources there makes easier to migrate packages to vl 64.

AFAIK both the package and the sources are in place.  The package is a .tlz package not a .tgz package.  We do not move Slackware packages into our repository -- we rebuild them.

To install this package you enable the testing repository in gslapt.  Instructions are in the link bigpaws provided.  Source code and build scripts should be in the source/testing repository.
