Vector Linux Install failure
« on: April 10, 2009, 06:25:17 pm »

I have a Dell Latitude CPx with 128 mb ram 12 gb hd Pentium 3 processor, and I tried to install vector linux lite 3 times. I carefully followed the instructions from this website:
I then come to this error:
"Cannot extract required /veclinux.tlz. Maybe the file is corrupt or the partition is full. The current install state is unknown"
I don't know what to do. I tried writing it on another disk, and it still wouldn't work.

Hi, welcome to Vector.
Have you checked the iso image with md5sum before burning it to cd?
Also what root partition size and Vector version are you using?
Bad download or not enough root partition space can cause the problem you are describing.

Is it VL6 or 5.9 Light? The problem you describe occurred on some machines that had trouble with the high compression used in 5.9. That is why we changed to using less compression/bigger ISO size in 6.0.
