animated roll up and down takes ~ 5 secs. I have nvidia driver 9643 which seems to work otherwise. glxgears makes ~ 200 FPS. XFCE and xorg.conf both have composite turned on. transparency is 'real'.

tilda is configured to take up 80% x 70% of the screen and animation time is 15000usec. sluggish either with doublebuffers on or off.

i removed the VL6 version and compiled from the original sources and is still the same slow and flickering like mad.

while still usable as a terminal it's no candy.

under LXDE animation works perfectly.

on VL5.9 was working fine.

Does anyone experience the same thing? What gives?

glxgears makes ~ 200 FPS.

What fps are you gettng under lxde? I suspect it will be the same. What nVidia chip? Because I have a 5-6 year old FX-5600 and it makes 2200FPS with glxgears, so I suspect if you are getting only 200fps that is your problem. But why under xfce is beyond me. You might want to look at /var/log/Xorg.0.log and see if there are any obvious error messages.
