VL6 - wired connection with pppoe
« on: March 13, 2009, 04:41:01 am »
Hi,

I have just moved the laptop to a place without DHCP. In Ubuntu Linux there is a script called pppoeconf, That is asking for user and password,

Is there anything like this in Vectorlinux?

Regards,

try "pppoe-setup" as root in a terminal window

It'll do the same thing

Hi,

thanks, that works fine. But I must call the script pppoe-start each system-start. In the setup-script was a question <on demand> or <forever>. I chose forever. But it doesn't connect automatic.

If you want to connect every time you start the system, add this line to your /etc/rc.d/rc.local file
Code: [Select]
/usr/sbin/pppoe-start &
You should only need to run the pppoe-setup step once to store your login information. After that, the pppoe-start command will get you online.
