3D Home Architect
« on: March 31, 2009, 08:10:49 pm »

I added wine 1.1.1.6 from the repository so I could play backgammon..as a vector game was not available

today I decided to try 3d Home Architect Deluxe 4.0 as I wanted a drawing program and could not find one

To my surprise it installed well and adds a desktop icon as well as a menu item..I added a bar button.. the 2d functionality is very good..the only thing I noticed is that the vertical dimensions value is in a black box..the color can be changed for clearer values...the print option worked and the black boxs did not appear on the print.I was able to save the drawing and reopen for edit..... here is a screenshot

The 3D options are less than perfect on this box but did work..for my design I was able to view in 3d and spin the building around but the samples require that you add a pic background to view and each turn requires a reset of the background image or the building is white so no contrast. here is a 3d shot of the above plan

not likely of great interest but I was pleasantly surprised

cheers

That is cool. I find the post interesting since there is not many CAD solutions for Linux. I have to use Autocad at work and I miss it sometimes at home. I have played with Qcad community edition only and I use it for simple draws sometimes. I still have to install it in my new VL-Light 6.0 system.

Thanks..I had not seen that...rather graphics intensive...and requires the propriatary nvidia driver..I'm useing the generic driver so can not test it out

look similar to designworkshop which is known to work under wine also..the lite version is free and low spec..I have used it a little on windows..both offer add-ons and help and would be good for 3d renders other than architectural..I may try it just to see if it works
