I had no problems installing Vector 6 light, but after it is completed my 15" monitor is blank and the button is flashing, however if I plug in my 17" monitor I can see the desktop. I cant seem to fix this problem, originally I set it to 1024x768 24bit color, then changed it to 800x600 but left it 24bit color and still the same result the 15" monitor cannot handle it. What can I do to make it work on the 15" monitor?, I need my 17" for my big machine! In windows XP my resolution can be 1024x768 @ 24bit color on the 15" monitor,  Vectorlinux is the ONLY OS that wont work on this monitor. and yet it makes this old machine fly! I really want to see/use it on my 15" monitor. Perhaps its the refresh rate? How can I change the frequency? Whats going on?!?!? Shocked

Post your /etc/X11/xorg.conf here and exact monitor model name.

I had to set my 15 inch monitor to 60 hertz refresh rate in order to see my desktop clearly. VL might not have had a driver for my monitor that could make it use a higher refresh rate or maybe my monitor just wasn't capable of anything higher.

The following sentence is true. The previous sentence is false.

VL 6.0 SOHO KDE-Classic on 2.3 Ghz Dual-core AMD with 3 Gigs of RAM

I believe that there are no drivers for monitors (not just on VL, but all other distros), except generic one of course. All you have to do is to Google for your exact model monitor specs, find horizontal and vertical refresh rates and put them in monitor section of xorg.conf.

Additionally, you could add Modeline, but honestly I never had need for something like that.
