Hi,

I just managed to install a VL6.0 Vectorlinux. In the booting menu two Vector alternatives are to choose. But the existing Windows on sda1 was ignored. There are two questions:

How can I get the Windows system in the menu?

How can I restore the whole menu, if the boot record was destroyed by a new Windows installation?

With Grub I am fit to manage it, but I do not know how to do with Lilo boot manager.

Regards,

When you installed lilo it should have detected the Windows partition. Go into Linux and show us the output of "fdisk -l" run as root in a terminal.

You can also rerun the detection process.  In a terminal run vliloconf.

I have two hard drives with windows on the first one.  I have better luck with vliloconf, than I do with the detection during the install process.

Thank you. After rerunning vliloconf it works fine. What I appreciate in this forum: I get several competent answers  in short time.
