Special splitting of desktop is not to change
« on: April 13, 2009, 12:30:01 pm »
Hi,

I use an 19 inch CRT. With desktop preferences  I try to change the sequence. The resolution is 1024 x 768.
85% of the upper part is used by the background image. Then the task panel follows.
And under this task panel there follows about 15% darkblue area.

I don't manage to move the taskbar down to the bottom. It is not possible with the panel manager. And the darkblue area at the bottom remains unchanged.

The background image appears,  if I change  <show image> off on. After the next systemstart the background image is lost. How can I fix it?

Regards

I'm not sure I'm getting this correctly... but I do have a couple of questions here..

You have a 19" CRT monitor... and you are using resolution=1024x768.... Is this intentional?
Your 19" monitor should be able to get you a whole lot better resolution than that.

Are you trying to split up your screen in different sections on purpose or is this how your initial installation is showing up?

What kind of video card does your box have?
which vectorlinux version is this?

Hi,

I installed VectorLinux VL6.0. I chose the resolution of 1024x768 despite higher resolutions are possible.

I did not try to split my screen, but  it is how my initial installation is showing up.

My video card is Matrox PCI 32MB MGA G450 Millennium with driver mga.

When I am entering the login at <Welcome to VectorLinux>, there is the same splitting of the screen:
The upper 85% part is dark blue including the line <VectorLinux 2008>.  The 15% bottom part is light blue.
