« on: April 12, 2009, 12:38:17 am »

Im using Vector Std Gold 6.0
My burner keeps remounting and unmounting itself over and over whenever K3b is running.
makes it imposible to burn DVDs. I have tryed more than one blank DVD+R in the drive.
I ran settup system permissions in the settings menu but it couldnt find the group listed as "burning so I created it. Dont know how to do the permisions settings to fix this. Maybe its the burner?
It has always worked in other Linux Distros. My burner is a "HP dvd Writer dvd630e".

When run from the terminal K3b gives me this output:

Session management error: Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed
kbuildsycoca running...

I always use group that already exists, usually cdrom or audio. If you created burning group, then you should add your user to that group. I prefer gpasswd command.

Code:
#gpasswd -a username burning

I should mention that it did this before I did anything with permissions.

/dev/sr0 seems to be cdrom

run vasm as super and goto hardware optical drives and run it..it appears that the drive is seen as a cdrom..this should detect the drive as a burner, just follow the prompts..you may also need to goto /etc/fstab and remove the # from cdwriter and then goto /mnt and rename cdrecorder to cdwriter..then run k3b as root and set permissions with setup and see if that helps
cheers
