Lilo doesn't find my freebsd partition
« on: April 19, 2009, 11:29:44 am »

Is there an equivalent of /boot/grub/menu.lst for Lilo that I can paste

Code: [Select]
                  title PCBSD
                  root (hd0,2)
                  chainloader +1

into?

I looked, I pasted, I didn't see what I pasted at boot. I suppose I could live without bsd, I like vector linux, I just downloaded the standard 6.0 release. I was thinking of installing it on the entire disk.

the format is not the same, but you should adapt grub format to lilo's.

Btw, welcome to VL .

Yes I did. It only found the Vector Linux partition.

you will have to edit the /etc/lilo.conf file to look something similar to this:
Code: [Select]
# Linux bootable partition config begins
image = /boot/vmlinuz
  root = /dev/hda2
  label = Linux
  read-only
# Linux bootable partition config ends
# FreeBSD
other = /dev/hda3
table = /dev/hda
label = FreeBSD
then you have to run the following command from a terminal as root  /sbin/lilo -v

I've ended up installing gNewSense on my bsd partition and it found Vector Linux. So I can dual boot again. I like Vector Linux enough to use it on the entire disk and I still might do that. Thank you, everyone for your help.
