Connecting to network.
« on: May 03, 2009, 11:05:48 am »

My router is at the other end of the house from my computer so I sometimes forget to turn on my router before my computer. If I turn my computer on before the router, I don't get an IP address or internet until I reboot the computer. Is there a way to get an IP address and internet (if I turn on the computer first and the router second) without rebooting?
The following sentence is true. The previous sentence is false.

The easiest way is to open a terminal (console) type
su then enter the root password.

Then type:

ifconfig eth0 up && dhcpcd eth0

That should be all you need.
