I know why birds sing ...

« on: May 10, 2009, 08:39:02 pm »

Hy to all,
I am running VL6 on my machines and have connected them with my Dropbox-Account, see https://www.getdropbox.com. There is a How-to which worked for Vector fine.
Now I want to start the client automatically on log-in, i.e. I have to run the command

~/.dropbox-dist/dropboxd &

in a terminal. I added this in the Autostart of XFCE and as this failed to work also to put this line into rc.local

Also failure.

In which config file do I have to put this command, or is the syntax maybe wrong?

Any tip appreciated. VL6 is so perfect that the good ole basic cli magic is nearly forgotten for me.

This is just a stab in the dark, but maybe you need to delay the start of dropbox till the other autostarts
have completed and your systems ready.
If you created a short script using sleep should do that much.

#!/usr/bin/bash
sleep 8
~/.dropbox-dist/dropboxd &
exit

save the script

Then call the scrip in autostart.
