OK. I forgot that, but now it is blacklisted.
Running the command:
modprob 8139cp

and then:
lsmod | grep 8139

results in:
8139cp         19968  0
mii                   5376  1  8139cp

And still no internet connection.

Do you get an IP from your router after using the 8138cp module?

I have decided to stop further trouble-shooting.
I still believe that it is hardware related, so I will get another computer to install VectorLinux.
