First, thanks blurymind for these icons; they're great!

I'm using KDE, and I just right-click a tlz file, select properties, general tab, and click the edit file type button.  I'm not sure how you would do in something else (I think you use xfce).  Huh

Come to think of it, I may have added a new mime type for tlz in KDE Control Centre > KDE Components >File Association ... sorry, it's been a while since I set it up.

lol... it represents a hard to break vesel that has something sweet inside...and its less predictable and dull. You are all thinking in the box,while you should be thinking out of it like me,and stop imitating all the common things.  Wink

anyways,i thought it's hopeless,so i gave up on the icon thing. I think that nobody is concerned about tlz icons for vec 6 and you will all will be probably stuck with a blank sheet icon for that.  Grin

thanks,but it seems most people wanna stick to the box thingy.
well, i made box combo icons. Its pretty easy to take some other tar icon and just put "tlz" sign in front.
So devs,if you wanna keep it to the standarts , why dont you at least make an icon fro tlz yourselves and include it. The blank sheet icon for vec's official packaging standart is just screaming "unpolished distro" to the users

the tlz memtype icon is setup and being used in 5.9
if you want to fix it in your 5.8 you need to add this:
Code:
  <mime-type type="application/x-compressed-tlz">
    <comment>tar archive (lzma-compressed)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="bg">Архив, формат tar, компресиран с lzma</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="cs">Archiv tar (komprimovaný lzma)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="cy">Archif tar (cywasgwyd efo lzma)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="da">tar-arkiv (lzma-komprimeret)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="de">tar-Archiv (lzma-komprimiert)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="el">αρχείο tar (συμπιεσμένο με lzma)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="eo">tar-arkivo (kunpremita per lzma)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="es">archivo tar (comprimido con lzma)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="eu">tar artxiboa (lzma-konprimatua)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="fi">tar-arkisto (lzma-pakattu)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="fr">archive tar (compressé lzma)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="hu">tar-archívum (lzma-pel tömörítve)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="it">Archivio tar (compresso con lzma)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="ja">tar アーカイブ (lzma 圧縮)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="ko">(lzma으로 압축된) tar 묶음파일</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="lt">tar archyvas (suspausta su lzma)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="ms">Arkib tar (dimampatkan-lzma)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="nb">tar-arkiv (lzma-komprimert)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="nl">tar-archief (lzma-ingepakt)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="nn">tar-arkiv (pakka med lzma)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="pl">archiwum tar (kompresja lzma)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="pt">arquivo tar (comprimido com lzma)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="pt_BR">Arquivo tar (compactado com lzma)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="ru">архив tar (сжатый lzma)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="sq">arkiv tar (i kompresuar me lzma)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="sr">тar архива (lzma-компресована)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="sv">tar-arkiv (lzma-komprimerat)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="uk">архів tar (стиснений lzma)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="vi">bản nén tar (đã nén bằng lzma)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="zh_CN">tar 压缩包(lzma 压缩)</comment>
    <comment xml:lang="zh_TW">tar 保存檔 (lzma 格式壓縮)</comment>
    <glob pattern="*.tar.lzma"/>
    <glob pattern="*.tlz"/>
  </mime-type>
to the /usr/share/mime/packages/freedesktop.org.xml
then you need to run "update-mime-database /usr/share/mime"
finally you need to have an icon called application-x-compressed-tlz.png in the mimetypes folder of the icon set you are using.
I think /usr/share/icons/Vista-Inspirate_1.0 was the default on 5.8

Please do. I despise the icon's low quality.

here's a quick try:

(needs a bit of cleaning)

and a futuristic take (just a doodle):

for best quality,i can remake the icon in svg format.
