I am happy to report that VL 6 Light installed and runs quite well on my Asus Eee PC. (older 4G/701 model). I only had the 4 gig SSD, however I ended up with about a gig free space (no swap, no separate home partitions). Webcam works, wireless works, SD card works after I set it to mount at boot using VASM. Now, the biggie: I want KDE 3.x on this. I have 2 gigs of RAM, and KDE works great on this machine using other similar distros (Backtrack, Ultima, ProTech, etc). I need to know how many packages there are that I need to mark using Gslapt. I don't have enough room for KDE 4, and the older version and I have gotten along great for quite some time! Thank you for any help.
Alternatively, I would be more satisfied with the IceWM on VL 6 Light if I could create additional desktop icons for the wifi manager and other apps I frequently use. From what research I have done, I gather that it involves editing a text file associated with IceWM, but I really prefer the functionality of KDE.
