HP 2133 Mini-Note PC with VL-6-Std-Gold, xfce4

There is no sound when trying to play with youtube.com. Clicking on play it
gives of a short tone like sound will start and then stops.

There is sound with realplayer, CD play and BBC embedded players and on other sites
embedded flash player,
 just no sound with youtube.

So basically I thinks the sound system is sound.

Any suggestions how to resolve?

Hi Pita:

I had the same problem once. Alsamixer shows several channels for my soundcard, even when its a 2ch cheap card.
I discovered that different software is routed through different channels, and just playing around with the mixer I got sound from flash.
The labels of the channels are messed in my box, so I wouldnt pay too much attention to them (I think the channel governing flash sound was labeled like "Line in" or something).

Thanks!
It is only on Sunday that I have access to this little maschine.

I opened alsamixer and all controls are up, however, there are
only a few unlike in my PC and none labeled Line. It is the same
alsa version, 1.0.18. The solund card is HDA VIA VT82xx.

I found now when trying to play youtube and clicking pause, play, pause,
play..... everytime play is clicked there is sound for a second or 2 and then
silence. Kind of awkward of watching a clip.

I hope this can be resolved since the owner of the HP 2133 wants to use youtube
quite often. Otherwise she is very happe with VL-6.

Do you get the same behavior in Opera, Seamonkey and Firefox?

I would try installing latest flash from adobe... You have to download, extract and cp the .so into /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins

Yes there is the same behaviour, about 2 seconds sound whenever play is clicked, in opera and firefox.
Seamonkey is not installed.

I have already installed the latest flashplayer. No change.

Yesterday we played a DVD at full sound just as with realplayer or BBC embedded flashplayer.

It is this youtube.com giving the problem.
