Hello to all of you,
i got some driver issues with this printer. For linux doesn't support it natively, i have got to use the proprietary drivers from the lexmark website. there are offered a rpm, a deb and a tar.gz package with a graphical installer. well, i tried all three, and there pops up a lexmark graphical installation menu, and everything goes well, files are extracted until cups is checked. it states there that
"The installer has detected the operating system does not meet CUPS minimum version requirements. Please install CUPS version 1.2 or higher and run the installer again."
i forgot to mention: my cups version of course is 1.3.9.
is it because of a wrong package system? when installing, the rpm/deb/tar package is extracted containing the drivers("lexmark-inkjet-drivers.deb" eg)- should i convert it into a vector-friendly format? or an error in their script(with another linux, i had to change an installation script because it wasn't able to fetch my cpu speed).
I would appreciate any help.
I only managed to install the drivers on another pc with another linux with a lot of help.
if someone has a lot of spare time, maybe he/she could try to install these drivers(you don't need this printer to be plugged in in order to do so)
Well, it isn't live-neccessary to install them, because on my girlfriends laptop i got the drivers working(ubuntu, also a lot of fuzz), but i would appreciate to be independent in this way
Thanks a lot
