i am using the flgrx driver. with the official ati driver 9.5 and with the ati driver from the vxconf i have not gui. it only works with the fglrx.

i am saying these because if i could install the ati driver i could configure the second monitor from the control center.

is there any other way to do it ?

As mentioned in your other thread, the ATI Control Center comes with the "fglrx" driver. Do not confuse that with the "ati" driver. The .run file from ati.amd.com builds fglrx, but it will not work with VL current, that's why it was patched and packaged as the vlati package.

If you want to experiment some, you can boot to TUI and manually change fglrx to ati (or radeon, or vesa) in xorg.conf. Look for the line:
Code: [Select]
Driver   "fglrx"Then issue command "startx" to try it out.

If you can not get amdcccle working, manual edits of xorg.conf will get you multiple displays. Try google search for "xorg.conf multiple monitors":

Another utility is xrandr. I have not personally used it, but it's worth a try: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Xorg_RandR_1.2
