p://www.opensourcebistro.com/Tutorial/VL60/07.System/page I came across opensourcebistro quite by accident. I was looking for ways to make installation of applications etc easier for myself. Not only does this site show you a step by step interactive way to understand our OS it also has other major distributions as well. It claims to reduce the learning curve by up to 6 months. I dont know if that is true or not but it certainly helps. Give it a try.

No distro that I know has that amount of videotutorials / screencasts . This is a big win for our diistro.
On the other side, we should say to the world we have those tutes. I'm proposing some things that might work (or might not).
1) Put those videos in youtube. This will make the videos more visible to foreigners. 2) Ask distrowatch guys to put a link in the 'related sites' to the videotutorials page 3) announce the page in linuxquestions.
Is not that the tutes are not great (they are), but most non-vl users do not even know that they exist. Knowing that vl has tons of videotutorials might make lots of people try VL.
My 2cents.

Those are great suggestions, kidd. The tutorials are a real plus for VectorLinux and would go far toward correcting the impression that VL is "too hard" for newbies.
I bet a lot of us are on other message boards and e-mail lists. When appropriate, I suggest putting in a plug for VectorLinux and include a link to opensourcebistro so people can see for themselves. Also, you might include VectorLinux in your sig. "Being productive with VectorLinux 6 Standard" is at the bottom of all the e-mails I send. --GrannyGeek

I agree, with Granny. Those are great suggestions, kidd.
I'll see what I can do. Keep in mind OSB is still very young and still needs some polish. It also has no community of its own, just me right now. Not that I haven't received advice and ideas from the community, I have and I'm grateful. I just need to take it slow enough that I can maintain the pace of creating a tutorial everyday or second day and still get to emails and do what promoting I can.
I can see what I can do about Youtube. In theory it is easy. Just record the video with xvidcap as I click through it. I just don't like tutorial video's on youtube without voice. I think it's something people expect. That being said I think it is doable.
Adding an announcement to LinuxQuestions also should be easy enough. Maybe I can even post the new additions there. I'll come up with something.
It would be an honor if OSB was added to the VectorLinux page at Distrowatch , I just don't think it's my place to do so. Robert and Darryl have the contacts at Distrowatch and when they say it's time, well then it's time.
Not that I have not been trying to get the word out. I get it that I'm just preaching to the choir when I post on the VL forum. So I've been tweeting each new tutorial on twitter and identi.ca plus adding more detailed posts to Digg.com. If anyone is into such things fell free to retweet the posts or add a link to anything on OSB to your hearts content.
Stretch.
