pyWvDial: It provides a graphical interface for configuration and
pyWvDial: execution of WvDial, with a output monitor and a system
pyWvDial: tray icon, and grants easy access to connection information
pyWvDial:
pyWvDial:
pyWvDial: License: GPL
pyWvDial: Authors: Giacomo Lozito
pyWvDial: Website: http://www.develia.org/projects.php?l=2&f=1&p=pywvdial

   After testing this package please stop back here and let us know how it works for you.

pyWvDial requires a lot of options. I put some that I know and it doesn't connect. Shows an error incorrect login name or something. And where is the wvdial.conf? In /etc/ there is only wvdialconf-sample.

I created a file called wvdial.conf in /etc and put this settings in it.

[Modem0]
Modem=/dev/ttyACM0
Baud=115200
Dial Command = ATDT
init1=ATZ
init2=AT+CRM=1
FlowControl=Hardware (CRTSCTS)
[Dialer <name>]
Username=<username>
Password=<password>
Phone=<number>
Stupid Mode= 1
Inherits = Modem0

And in terminal I tried wvdial <name>.. And it doesn't worked.

Then I run wvdial <name> as super user. Then it worked. However I had to put the DNS addresses in resolv.conf.

Is there is anyway direclty putting this settings into a file and pyWvDial reads that?

Re-installing is not a problem, but it is when I had to.

I will see what I can find out.  I'll be home this evening and give it a go.  I may have some questions myself as I am not at all familiar with the program.

here is my /etc/wvdial.conf:
Code:
[Dialer Defaults]
Init1 = AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet.tigo.hn"
Init1 = ATZ
Auto DNS = off
Modem Type = USB Modem
Phone = *99***1#
Password = Guest
Username = Guest
Modem = /dev/ttyACM0
Baud = 921600

I installed pyWvdial 3 or 4 days ago and i've had no problem

@arundracula,
you can try to edit your /etc/wvdial.conf to make it look like this:

Code:
[Dialer Defaults]
Modem=/dev/ttyACM0
Baud=115200
Dial Command = ATDT
init1=ATZ
init2=AT+CRM=1
FlowControl=Hardware (CRTSCTS)
Username=<username>
Password=<password>
Phone=<number>
Stupid Mode= 1
#Inherits = Modem0

or make a file named wvdialrc with the same content in your home folder, this way pyWvdial should be able to read your configuration. And i'm not sure but I think Baud=115200 is too low, you will get better speed if you set it to a higher value
