Hi

I have just downloaded the Vector Linux Standard Gold 6.0 iso. I burned it to a CD and tried to install it. After selecting a screen option (tried SVGA and the default and the first on the list) in all cases it seemed to progress well with the boot process and then the screen went blank and then printed the msg "Out of range".

In the last few weeks I have downloaded, burned and installed Puppy and SLAX (to USB pen drive). Even so I could still be missing something simple.

A search  suggests that this is not a common problem.

Has anybody any suggestions for how to proceed please.

Many thanks

the first thing i would try is to run the installer at 800x600.
If that gives you the same error you will have to use the old installer.
type linux at the cd boot prompt and it will start the old installer.

Hi uelsk8s

I tried 800X600 but with no improvement.

So I downloaded SOHO light 5.9 and was able to install this easily.  Grin
I came to the conclusion that the 6.0 version is not as widely applicable as 5.9 but it might be something entirely different.

So until I need to upgrade this is solved.

Many thanks
